This guide describes the process of connecting the application to a Wi-Fi ELM327 adapter. On the main screen of the app, during the connection process, the Wi-Fi indicator in the top right corner (to the left of the car icon) will blink. Once the adapter is connected, the Wi-Fi icon turns green and stops blinking.
At the second stage, the car icon starts blinking — this indicates that the adapter is being configured and the connection to the vehicle is being checked. This stage is not covered in this guide.
Step 1. Make sure that your ELM327 adapter supports connection via Wi-Fi. Not Bluetooth and not Bluetooth LE.
Step 2. Locate the diagnostic connector in your vehicle (OBD-II port). Plug the adapter into the port and ensure it is fully inserted and fits securely. Turn on the vehicle ignition or start the engine. If your adapter has a power button, press it to turn the adapter on. The adapter’s indicator light should turn on.
Step 3. Open Android system Settings and go to the Wi-Fi networks section. Find the Wi-Fi network of your adapter. It is usually named “OBDII”, “OBD2”, or “WIFI_OBDII”. Some branded adapters may use their brand name as the network name, for example “VLINK”.
Most Wi-Fi adapters do not require a password to connect, but if yours does, refer to the adapter’s manual from the manufacturer or seller. It is usually included in the package or available on the product page in the online store.
Step 4. Open the Obd Mary app settings and go to the “Connection” section. Make sure the adapter type is set to Wi-Fi. Check the adapter’s IP address and port settings. For most Wi-Fi adapters, the IP address is 192.168.0.10 and the port is 350000.
The correct IP address and port for your specific adapter should be found in the adapter manual or obtained from the manufacturer or seller.
Step 5. Go to the main screen of the Obd Mary app and press the blue “Connect” button at the bottom of the screen.
If the adapter is working properly and all steps above were followed correctly, the application will connect to the adapter. The Wi-Fi indicator in the top right corner will stop blinking, and the car icon will start blinking — this means the app has connected to the adapter and started configuring it and attempting to connect to the vehicle’s ECU.
